Rules

  1. Each given digit belongs to a connected region of exactly that many cells.
  2. Regions may be any connected shape.
  3. Two regions of equal size may not touch edge to edge.
  4. Every cell ends up belonging to some region.

How to start

Start where equal digits touch

Two matching neighbours either merge or must be kept apart, which usually settles it.

Big digits are easy to fence in

A five-cell region has far fewer shapes than you would guess.

"Equal sizes may not touch" wins the endgame

When two same-sized regions nearly meet, something else must slot between them.

Where players get stuck

  • Merging regions that carry different digits.
  • Missing the no-equal-neighbours rule, which opens the grid to many solutions.
