Rules

  1. All standard Sudoku rules apply.
  2. White dot: the two neighbours differ by exactly 1.
  3. Black dot: one neighbour is exactly twice the other.
  4. A pair with no dot is neither consecutive nor a doubling pair.

How to start

"No dot" is the strongest clue you get

Between undotted neighbours, pairs like 1-2, 2-4 and 4-8 are all ruled out.

Reason along chains

Consecutive dots form a chain you can walk from one end to the other.

Check the no-dot variant before you start

Some versions apply it only under certain conditions.

Where players get stuck

  • Forgetting that the absence of a dot is itself a constraint.
  • Reading the black dot as any multiple — it is strictly double.
